We set off with foggy heads up into Kingley Vale. This place has been a frequent teacher to us since starting to learn the elusive art of tracking deer a number of years ago. The hardest part is always beginning, finding those first prints that invite you onto a trail. There are usually a few false starts and a sense of doubt about whether we are capable of noticing something so small and subtle, and behind it the idea that out there at the end of these “lines” are living animals going about their lives.
